ATTENTION ALL FREEDOM LOVING PEOPLE

In the Spirit of the great Freedom Riders of the 1960s, S.H.A.P.E. Community Center has taken young people on a journey of history throughout the Deep South (Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, and Arkansas). Re-tracing the "Civil Right Movement," students visit historical landmarks and Historically Black Universities. This year’s Freedom Tour takes place on March 12 through March 15, 2018.

Some of the sites we will visit are:

  • Jackson, MS

Medgar Evers Home

Smith Robertson Museum

  • Selma, AL

Brown Chapel AME Church

Edmund Pettus Bridge

National Voting Rights Museum

  • Montgomery, AL

Dexter Avenue King Memorial Church

Rosa Parks Museum

  • Birmingham, AL

Sixteenth Street Baptist Church

Civil Rights Institute

Kelly Ingram Park

When the tour ends, young people and their mentors will conduct forums to share information and their combined experiences. Through video documentation, written reports and question and answer sessions, participants educate others about places of historical significance.

Make your money count as we educate our children about the history and the legacies of the Civil Rights movement. The Freedom Tour changes lives and secures our future.

Your generous contributions** are sincerely appreciated and we look forward to seeing you at our youth forums upon our return.  SHAPE is asking for your prayers for a safe and purposeful trip.  Should there be any questions please contact SHAPE at 713-521-0641, 713-521-0629 or email us at
